Students Technical Symposium & Exhibition
(STSE 2026)
Host Institution: PTI, Warri
Date: 25 - 28 March 2026
Theme: Empowering Future Energy Leaders: Collaboration, Innovation, and Resilience in a Changing World
Synopsis:
The global energy landscape is undergoing a transformative shift driven by the dual challenges of energy transition and sustainable development. This symposium, "Empowering Future Energy Leaders: Collaboration, Innovation, and Resilience in a Changing World," addresses the critical need to equip the next generation of energy professionals with the essential mindset, skills, and tools to navigate this complex future. It serves as a vital platform for students to engage with cutting-edge technical knowledge and strategic foresight.
The event will explore three interconnected pillars crucial for future energy leadership:
- Collaboration: The future of energy demands unprecedented collaboration across disciplines, sectors, and international borders. Sessions will focus on multidisciplinary approaches (e.g., engineering, data science, economics), effective stakeholder engagement, and the necessity of partnership between industry, academia, and government to accelerate the energy transition.
- Innovation: Technology and novel thinking are the engines of progress. This theme will highlight the latest technical advancements in areas such as low-carbon energy sources, carbon capture and storage (CCUS), digitalization, Artificial Intelligence (AI) for optimizing energy systems, and enhancing operational efficiency and safety in traditional oil and gas.
- Resilience: Future leaders must possess the capacity to adapt to rapid changes, market volatility, and unforeseen global events. Topics will cover risk management, supply chain security, the importance of adaptable infrastructure, and the development of a sustainable and ethical resource base that can withstand environmental and economic pressures.
This conference will ensure students are technically enriched and strategically prepared, understanding that the path to a secure, affordable, and sustainable energy future requires holistic leadership. This event is a call to action for students to embrace their role as drivers of change, fostering a culture of innovation and shared responsibility that will define the energy world of tomorrow.

The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Nigeria Council invites undergraduate and postgraduate students (MSc and PhD) from higher institutions affiliated with SPE Student Chapters within the Nigeria Council to submit abstracts for the 2026 SPE Nigeria Student Paper Contest.
The contest will be conducted as part of the 24th Student Technical Symposium and Exhibition (STSE 2026) of the SPE Nigeria Council, scheduled for the first quarter of 2026. Awards will be presented to the top three papers in each division during the Nigerian Annual International Conference & Exhibition (NAICE 2026). Submitted papers must be relevant to the symposium theme.
Significant papers authored by contestants during the academic term may serve as a basis for submission. Each student must be sponsored by a professor from their institution, who will provide guidance throughout the paper development process. Only single-author papers are eligible. Papers must not have been accepted for publication in an SPE peer-reviewed journal prior to or at the time of submission, nor previously presented at any SPE Regional Student Paper Contest.
All submissions must be made through the CMT online portal:
https://cmt3.research.microsoft.com/STSE2026
Students are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to showcase their research and contribute to technical excellence within the SPE community.
Deadlines:
- Site open for submission of abstracts: December 20, 2025
- Deadline for Submission of Abstracts: January 31, 2026
- Deadline for Submission of Presentation Slides: March 20, 2026
