OLEF 2012

OLOIBIRI LECTURE SERIES AND ENERGY FORUM 2012

The 2012 edition of the Oloibiri Lecture Series and Energy Forum (OLEF 2012), a landmark annual event of the Society of Petroleum Engineers was held at the Civic Center, Lagos on Thursday March 8, 2012.

Attendance at the event included key personalities in the public sector as well as dignitaries from the Oil and Gas industry. Among them were the SPE International President elect, Mr. Egbert Imomoh, the Director of Petroleum Resources, Olsten Olorunsola, The GED, Gas & Power, NNPC, Dr. David Ige, MD's of Multinational and National Oil Companies, executives and members of SPE, industry professionals, executives of banks, the academia and the media.

The GED, Gas & Power, Dr. David Ige delivered the lead presentation titled "Gas as an enabler of economic development" while the Energy forum had Mr. Chike Onyejekwe of Shell Nigeria Exploration & Production Company (SNEPCO) deliver the second paper titled "Deepwater Operations Safety Issues: Lessons from the Gulf of Mexico (The Macondo Incident)".

"FUTURE OF OIL & GAS: RIGHT BALANCE WITH THE ENVIRONMENT AND SUSTAINABLE STAKEHOLDERS PARTICIPATION"

The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Nigeria Council announces the 36th edition of the Nigeria Annual International Conference and Exhibition

(NAICE 2012), scheduled to hold between 6th and 8th August, 2012 in Abuja, Nigeria.

NAICE is the largest upstream Oil and Gas event in Africa, held annually in Nigeria and attracts industry practitioners at all levels, as well as key stakeholders. NAICE 2012 is the industry’s opportunity to learn, debate and challenge ideas to chart the right course towards a sustainable future for the industry.

The Theme for NAICE 2012 is "Future of Oil & Gas: Right Balance with the Environment and Sustainable Stakeholders Participation". The event will explore the elements of a rapidly transforming environmental and societal concerns and expectations; the industry´s response with appropriate technology and solutions and the opportunities in emerging legal and political frameworks for all.

Pre- Conference Short Courses will hold on 4th and 5th August, 2012.
